Self or Not-Self? Personal and universal aspects of growth on the path

Non-residential weekend with Jake Dartington and Yuka Nakamura

16 – 17 March 2019, St Lukes, London EC1V 8AJ

Meditation practice can reveal the universal characteristics of our hearts and minds, as well as lead us towards more personal insights.

In this workshop, we’ll explore the Buddha’s teaching on ‘not-self’ – looking at how it can be integrated with psychological understandings of our individual patterns. We’ll also reflect on the way in which universal and personal insights can transform our relationships with ourselves, others and the world.

Time will include dharma talks, guided meditation practices and group exchanges.

JAKE DARTINGTON has practised Buddhist meditation since 1995. After training as a Dharma teacher with Christina Feldman, he started teaching in 2007. He has a background in Philosophy and Buddhist Studies and has trained as a teacher of MBSR/MBCT. Jake lives in Nottingham where he teaches mindfulness and Insight Meditation.

YUKA NAKAMURA has practiced Buddhist meditation in different traditions since 1993, has a PhD in Developmental Psychology and is a certified MBSR-teacher. Trained as a Buddhist meditation teacher by Fred von Allmen she teaches meditation at Beatenberg (Switzerland), Gaia House (UK), Insight Meditation Society (Barre, MA) and other places. Yuka offers MBSR-courses and MBI-trainings at the CFM Zentrum für Achtsamkeit (CH).
